AROMATHERAPY
On completion of the Swedish Massage Diploma course, or a qualification
of a similar standard, it is possible to gain entry to the Clinical
Aromatherapy Diploma.
The Scottish Massage Schools Clinical Aromatherapy course runs
one weekend per month for 7 months in Edinburgh.
The course is designed to give a comprehensive training in all
aspects of essential oils and their uses and to equip the student
to enter into practice as a professional Clinical Aromatherapist.
To gain a Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy the student must:
A: Attend 112 hours of training over 7 weekends
B: Complete home assignments and practice the skills learned at
each weekend.
C: A ttain the required standard, passing the final written and
practical examinations.
D: Compile the required case studies to the standard required and
submit.
E: Have the attitude and professionalism required for a professional
Clinical Aromatherapist.
Subjects include: history and philosophy of aromatherapy; plant
and essential oil chemistry; safety procedures; methods of application;
consultation and individual prescribing; blending principles; hygiene;
first aid; ethics; and building and promoting a Clinical Aromatherapy
practice.
Scottish Massage Schools is affiliated to the Scottish Massage
Therapists Organisation and the Guild of Complementary Practitioners.
Successful graduates may also apply for inclusion in the Aromatherapy
Division of the British Register of Complementary Practitioners.
